WHAT IS MYOPIA CONTROL?

Myopia, commonly known as nearsightedness, is a common eye condition where people can see close objects clearly, but distance vision is blurry. When the eye isn’t shaped just right, it focuses light incorrectly, causing this “refractive vision error.” Though eyeglasses can be used to correct vision in the short term, myopia will continue to progress without proper management.

Myopia control is designed to not only correct nearsightedness, but also prevent myopia from getting worse. At North West Vision Center, we target myopia early on, ideally between the ages of 8 and 12, with several treatment options available to fit different patients.
