ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY

The quality of your vision depends on the quality of your products–both contact lenses, and eyeglasses. North West Vision Center offers state-of-the-art technology and products to ensure that our customers are seeing to the best of their ability with maximum comfort and style and minimal cost. Investing in the best technology means that you can experience a better range of vision with improved sharpness and without any side effects like headaches or blurred vision. Here are a few of the advanced technology products that we offer our customers:

Vrilux Technology

Varilux technology offers a sharp vision with W.A.V.E. (Wavefront Advanced Vision Enhancement™) Technology. W.A.V.E. Technology is advanced lens technology only from Varilux that eliminates the blurriness and low-light issues of ordinary progressive lenses. It provides sharper vision at every distance, even in dimly-lit conditions. The Varilux product is designed to adapt to our eyes’ ability to see different ranges of vision — both objects far and near. As we age, it becomes more difficult to focus properly from one range of vision to another. Varilux Progressive lenses allow you to see all ranges of vision clearly.

Progressive Lenses

Eyes change throughout our lives, gradually losing the ability to focus on close objects. During our mid-forties, the lenses in our eyes become stiffer, and the muscles that control them change which eventually causes blurred vision. This is called Presbyopia. Progressive lenses work to help you see clearly across all distances. Their advanced technology allows a seamless transition between viewing distances so you don’t experience the “jumping” of images when viewing between the top and bottom half of the lens. Progressive lenses also have the added benefit of being free from the distracting lines of a bifocal lens. A progressive lens is clear throughout giving you better visual clearance and cleaner, more balanced appearance and proportion.

High Index Lenses

Lenses can be made of various materials of varying weight and thickness – the overall result depends on the density of the lens material as well as your personal prescription. As a general rule, if you are long-sighted your lenses are thickest in the middle, and the opposite is true if you are short-sighted, the lenses are thickest at the edges.

High Index lenses reduce the overall thickness of your lenses, giving them a lighter feel and improving appearance. All come with super easy-clean surfaces that last longer and are Anti Reflection coated for clear vision without distractions.

Single Vision Lenses

Single vision lenses have one single prescription across their entire surface and are suitable in all scenarios, whether you need your glasses for driving, working or reading.

Sports Lenses

For athletes and sports applications, we highly recommend Polycarbonate Lenses. Polycarbonate is virtually unbreakable, and it is used exclusively by many of the world’s finest sports glasses manufacturers and optical laboratories.

Polarized Lenses

All sunglasses are designed to reduce brightness, but a glare from the sun can still cause eye strain, squinting or even temporary blindness – which can be particularly hazardous while driving a vehicle. To avoid this, Optical Masters recommends polarized lenses, which provide 100% protection from glare and block 100% of harmful UV rays.

Multifocal Lenses

Other than progressive multifocal lenses, we carry a wide variety of multifocal lenses including bifocal and trifocal line mutifocals.

Anti-Reflective Coatings

The curved surface of glasses lenses, along with the materials they are made from, cause reflections. In fact, you can lose around 10% of light through reflections on lenses. These reflections can be distracting and appear unattractive. An anti-reflective coating allows for clearer vision by reducing reflections, allowing 99.8% of the light through the lens and ensuring distractions to your vision are minimal. Your glasses’ appearance is also improved, as others can see your eyes rather than reflections of light. See the difference with our anti-reflection demonstration. At North West Vision Center, all our anti-reflection lenses include the latest technological development – a super-hydrophobic coating, which can now make your lenses resistant to condensation, water-repellent and easier to clean.

Scratch-Resistant Catings

Scratch resistant lenses provide protection from everyday accidental damage. The hard coating prolongs the life of the lens, while simultaneously providing a clearer vision. No eyeglass lenses — not even glass lenses — are scratch-proof. However, lenses that are treated front and back with a clear, scratch-resistant coating have a much harder surface that is more resistant to scratching, whether from dropping your glasses on the floor or occasionally cleaning them with a paper towel. Kids’ lenses, especially, benefit from a scratch-resistant hard coat for greater durability.

Since scratch-resistant coatings are sometimes optional, make sure your optician knows that you want your eyeglass lenses to include hard coating for extra durability. Keep in mind that even the best scratch-resistant coating can’t completely protect your lenses from wear and tear. To keep your glasses looking new, store them in a cushioned case when not in use, and clean your lenses with a microfiber cloth and the cleaning solution your optician recommends. Also, be wary of products that promise to repair scratched lenses. These products may fill in the scratches, but it is impossible for them to make the scratches disappear so the lenses look new again. At Northwest Vision Center all of our premium lenses include a scratch-resistant coating as standard.
